Position Summary

The Financial Data Exchange was organized to develop a common, interoperable standard for secure consumer and business access to their financial records. This will help foster innovation and competition in the provision of financial services. The Financial Data Exchange is seeking an experienced Managing Director to lead the organization in accordance with the mission and desired goals of the Board of Directors. You will oversee all operations and functions, develop and implement strategies aiming to promote the organization’s mission and voice. You will be the face of the organization, responsible for giving the proper strategic direction and implementing a high-quality vision.

As an organization dedicated to protecting the financial sector as a critical infrastructure, FinDex must operate in a highly resilient and efficient manner. To this end, the Managing Director will utilize his/her experience to lead internal staff and outsourced providers while embracing member focus, innovation, integrity and partner development. This position requires a dynamic candidate with strong leadership experience to establish and drive a capable team to plan and execute successful cyber security strategies.

Essential Functions

  • Lead industry discussions to develop and drive adoption of a common standard for financial data exchange
  • Act as spokesperson of the organization and implement decisions by the Financial Data Exchange Board of Directors
  • Serve as the Financial Data Exchange official representative for external engagements
  • Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance Financial Data Exchange’s Mission
  • Lead strategic planning to identify organization capabilities and build plans for execution of those functions; develop and implement operational plans, policies and goals
  • Execute strategic alignment and synchronization of services, products, and external relationships for implementation of FinDex capabilities, coordinating group members and other organizations as needed
  • Drive operational results by integrating and synchronizing activities conducted by workstreams and stakeholders
  • Conduct membership outreach, develop strategies for identifying and building relationships with key stakeholders
  • Oversee the functions of various working groups and support as needed.
  • Plan and execute organization’s financial activities including budgeting, dues schedules and amounts; maintains full awareness of the complete financial, statistical and accounting records; ensure the operating results established in the annual budget are achieved and the control of operating expenses are within budget
  • Recommends to the Board changes to policies and procedures that would improve the organization
  • Report operation stats and effectiveness of activities to Board of Directors and members
  • Represent FinDex at industry conferences, exercises and initiatives
  • Able to travel as needed to attend meetings and events

Qualifications

  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to direct and leverage cross-functional teams to meet defined objectives
  • Proven experience as managing director or in other managerial position
  • Excellent negotiation skills with proven ability to identify, influence, and persuade key decision makers at multiple levels of organizations
  • Strong oral and written communications skills; strong presentation and marketing skills.
  • Proven excellence in leadership, building teams, shaping priorities, driving results, and conducting strategic planning
  • String understanding of financial tools and the relationships between fintech and financial firms and the financial products that provide value to consumers experience leading high impact teams in a fast paced, high profile environment
  • Strong collaboration skills among a multi-stakeholder membership
  • Experience developing, refining, and coordinating enterprise-wide internal policies
  • Excellent organization and problem-solving skills

Education and Certifications

  • Minimum undergraduate degree
  • Other Desired Experience
  • Fintech or Financial Services background
  • Cyber Security or Cyber Risk experience
  • Knowledge of data aggregation
  • Prior standards organization and non-profit experience
